The Indian Legal Large Language Model aims to leverage the potential of generative AI and existing LLMs such as GPT 4 and Llama 2 to build an indigenous model which can perform legal tasks. Pre-trained models have already provided a glimpse of the possibilities of performing specific legal tasks but these models suffer from hallucinations, a lack of contextual understanding and are often prone to providing fabricated support for arguments. To change this OpenNyAI is building an open-source LLM model that can especially help in accessing legal information for citizens, assist in legal research and drafting, standardize and remove jargon from legal language and also serve as a valuable educational resource for law students and anyone interested in learning about the legal field.
